Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an Infrared Sauna and a traditional sauna?

Unlike a traditional sauna that uses hot rocks or steam to heat the air, infrared saunas don’t heat the air around you. Instead, they use infrared lamps (that use electromagnetic radiation) to warm your body directly. Traditional saunas heat the air at extremely high temperatures which can make the experience unbearably hot and difficult to breathe. Because infrared heats the body directly instead of simply heating the air, infrared saunas are seven times more effective for detoxification.

How often can I visit the Infrared Sauna Session?
Generally, we recommend up to 1-2 sessions a week for beginners. You can work up to 3 sessions a week to see better results. For chronic pain, weight loss, or other health issues, our experts may recommend more sessions based on your needs. As every person has different health concerns or goals, we will consult with you to
develop a personalized therapy session plan that you can follow.

How long can I use it each day?

40 minutes is the recommended session length. Although you may find that you might need to work up to that.

What do I wear?
There is no requirement for dressing in the infrared sauna. You may wear cotton clothes, a robe, or a towel.  Two towels will be provided for you during your session. One towel is for you to sit on and one is for you to wear or wipe your sweat.

Will I sweat?
Don’t be surprised if you don’t sweat during the first few sessions. Sweating will increase with regular use, removing cellular debris leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. However, once your body does begin to sweat, in our saunas, you will experience the deepest sweat of your life.

How can Infrared Sauna Therapy benefit me?
From chronic pain management to stress relief, an infrared sauna can help you increase blood circulation and detoxify your body to help you feel healthy and refreshed. Weight loss, clearer skin, improved sleep, and better muscle recovery are some of the vast benefits of the therapy session.

Can couples use the sauna?
Absolutely! You can schedule your appointment together with a loved one as a sauna can be used by 1-2 people at a time. All sessions are charged individually.

Are saunas hygienic?
At Proactive Massage and Bodywork, we pride ourselves on maintaining the utmost hygiene and cleanliness standards to give you the ultimate spa-like ambiance. We use natural and safe cleaning products for all the facilities. The sauna is cleaned thoroughly between each session. The antibacterial cedarwood combined with the infrared light, a natural disinfectant, creates a hygienic and safe experience within the sauna.

Do you accept walk-ins?
Due to high demand, we are unable to accept walk-ins at this time. Please make a prior appointment with us to ensure the sauna's availability.

Who should aviod using the Infrared Sauna?
Avoid the infrared sauna therapy sessions if you are pregnant, suffer from a contagious disease, have an open wound, are intoxicated, or dehydrated. It is best to consult with a doctor before booking your appointment with us, especially if you are on medication, have cardiovascular conditions, or have heat insensitivity
