Cutting Edge Technology

The Pelvic Floor Trainer uses High Intensity Focused ElectroMagnetic Energy (HIFEM) to stimulate and strengthen all of the pelvic floor muscles, not just the subset that can be exercised with voluntary contractions like Kegel exercises.

Target Muscle Groups

The Pelvic Floor Trainer is on the cutting edge of technology by utilizing a special seat that uses HIFEM technology to target all the muscles of the pelvic floor. What makes this treatment different from what you can do at home is the in-depth penetration and stimulation of the entire pelvic floor area, which is something you cannot do on your own.

Supramaximal Contractions

The quick, repetitive contractions in your targeted muscle groups are more effective at rapidly building muscle than standard muscle contractions.
The pulses also depolarize nerves, which causes supramaximal contractions that your body can’t produce on its own. Supramaximal contractions activate 100% of the targeted muscle fibers at once, with short rest periods to avoid muscle fatigue.

Increase Muscle Volume

This allows you to reach levels of contraction that are not possible during a workout done on your own. Extreme stress forces the muscle to adapt, resulting in an increase in the number and growth of muscle fibers and cells. On average, muscle volume increases by 25%.

How Does The EMS Pelvic Floor Trainer Work?

THE PELVIC FLOOR TRAINER SEAT

The pelvic floor muscles support the pelvic floor organs and control continence. However, natural body aging, childbirth, and menopause can cause this group of muscles to decondition, resulting in continence problems such as leaking urine when coughing or sneezing.

The Pelvic Floor Trainer uses High Intensity Focused ElectroMagnetic Energy (HIFEM) to stimulate and strengthen all the pelvic floor muscles, not just the subset that can be exercised with voluntary contractions (Kegel exercises).

These stronger pelvic floor muscles restore continence and the confidence to enjoy normal daily activities without fear of losing bladder control.

During each 30-minute session, you simply sit comfortably on the Pelvic Floor Trainer chair while it generates thousands of supramaximal pelvic floor muscle contractions. Each session is equivalent to doing 11,000 pelvic floor exercises, but without the hard work!

The procedure is non-invasive, and you remain fully clothed throughout. No drugs are required, and the most you will feel is a slight tingling during the treatment. With no recovery time needed, you can leave immediately after each session and resume your normal daily activities.

Who Is A Good Candidate For the Proactive Pelvic Floor Trainer?

To get the full benefit of our hot and cold treatments, it is best to let your body “do the work” to get itself back to its normal temperature on its own. We understand that providing a credit card to book an appointment can be inconvenient for some of our clients. However, we take the safety and protection of our clients, massage therapists, and team members very seriously. To ensure a secure environment, we require a valid credit card on file for each appointment. This policy is designed to help us avoid any potential misunderstandings or issues. Once you add a valid credit card to your profile, you will not have to input it each time you schedule a new appointment, unless the card becomes invalid. Upon entering your card information, no payment will be deducted for the appointment. The card on file is to ensure that the time slot is reserved exclusively for your appointment. Payment will be made after your completed appointment. We appreciate your understanding as we strive to make sure all of our massage therapists are safe and secure while providing you with excellent service.
  • What if I am late?
Please note that arriving late to your session may result in a shorter appointment to not penalize the client's booking after you. Clients over 20 minutes late will be asked to reschedule their appointment and will be charged the entire service fee.

A $40.00 fee will be charged to the saved and authorized payment method on file when a client fails to show up for an appointment, cancels, or reschedules it without giving our office at least 24 hours notice. If there is a second event of a no show or late cancellation/reschedule without a 24-hour notice, an $80.00 fee will be charged to the saved and authorized payment method on file. In the event of a third no show or late cancellation/reschedule without a 24-hour notice, clients are obligated to prepay the full appointment fee prior to booking another appointment, or they risk being dismissed from our practice. All clients must agree to this policy and provide a saved/authorized payment method before any appointments may be booked at Proactive Massage + Bodywork. If there is an issue collecting the fee from the payment method on file, a booking block will be placed on the client's profile, and they will be required to pay the fee due before any additional appointments can be scheduled. As a courtesy, we send out two appointment reminders via text and email 72 and 48 hours before the scheduled appointment. If, for any reason, you do not receive a reminder call or text message, the above policy will still remain in effect. Please note that arriving late to your service will result in a shorter appointment to avoid penalizing the client booked after you. Clients who are over 20 minutes late will be asked to reschedule their appointment and will be charged the late cancellation fee. We understand there may be times when an unforeseen emergency occurs and you may not be able to keep your scheduled appointment. If you should experience extenuating circumstances and would like to request a waiver of your cancellation fee, please fill out the Fee Waiver Form at www.proactiverva.com. • How do I prepare for my 20 Minute Full Body Light Therapy session?
BEFORE YOUR SESSION Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Always drink plenty of water before and after your light therapy session! Remove all make-up and body lotion prior to arrival to allow your skin to receive the full benefits of the red and infrared light waves. We have alcohol wipes available to help you remove any excess oils or dirt from the day. WHAT TO WEAR Most people prefer to use the full body light bed nude. However, a swimsuit is fine too. The more rays that your body is exposed to the better! (Your room is completely private.) We recommend bringing clothing that is loose fitting and comfortable to put back on after your session as you may be slightly sweaty. The struggle of putting on fitted clothing when you are sweaty is real! DURING YOUR SESSION You will lay down on the light bed and pull the top down to enclose yourself in the light. Our staff will show you where to turn on the bed once you are inside and comfortable. Enjoy your favorite music or podcast with the enclosed Bluetooth speakers. If using the 600 level nm only, then it is safe to leave your eyes open although it may take a few minutes for your eyes to adjust to leaving them fully open. If you are using the deeper nm for wound healing and bone growth, we recommend using the protective eyewear provided. The bed will turn off after your 20-minute session is over. AFTER YOUR SESSION When you finish your Full Body Light Therapy (PBM) session it is important to relax and cool down while your body continues to perspire. Let your body do the work to return itself to its regular temperature. Place your used towels in the Towel Drop and you’re all set!
  • How do I prepare for my 15 Minute Localized Cryotherapy session?
BEFORE YOUR SESSION Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Always drink plenty of water before and after your spot cryotherapy session! WHAT TO WEAR We recommend wearing clothing that is loose fitting around the area that you are having treated, allowing easy access. DURING YOUR SESSION After sharing your problem area(s) with us, our staff will evaluate the correct attachment to use to best get the cold to the area being treated. We will measure your skin temp on the area to be treated and begin to cool it with sub-zero air. The goal will be to reduce the skin temp 30° to 40° (think ice pack on steroids with a much deeper penetration!) in order to create vascular constriction in that area. AFTER YOUR SESSION When your session is complete, you are all set to go about your day! It is important to let your body do the work to return the skin in the treated area back to its regular temperature, increasing oxygenated blood flow & circulation to that area. Light exercise afterward is fine, but please avoid a sauna session or a hot shower. Wait at least 30-45 minutes before you shower.
  • How do I prepare for my 30 Minute Compression Therapy session?
BEFORE YOUR SESSION Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Always drink plenty of water before, during, and after your Compression Therapy session! WHAT TO WEAR Long pants and socks are a must (yoga pants or sweats are fine, jeans can be uncomfortable). We don’t want you to have any bare skin exposed to the compression device. DURING YOUR SESSION Our staff member will evaluate the goals of your session and help you get into the appropriate cuffs. You will start at a mid-level compression setting then you can decide if you want to increase or decrease the pressure. Then relax and let the pulsing massage go to work! AFTER YOUR SESSION When you finish your session we will help you to disconnect from the device. You are free to enjoy the rest of your day- refreshed and ready!
  • How do I prepare for my 15 Minute Deep Tissue Laser session?
BEFORE YOUR SESSION Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Always drink plenty of water before and after your Deep Tissue Laser session! WHAT TO WEAR We recommend wearing clothing that is loose fitting around the area that you are having treated, allowing easy access. DURING YOUR SESSION After sharing your problem area(s) with us, our staff will determine the best plan to maximize your results. You will be asked to put on protective eyewear during the laser session. You can relax and enjoy the warming effect the laser will have on your painful area. Each Deep Tissue Laser session takes only a few minutes. AFTER YOUR SESSION When your session is complete, you are all set to go about your day! There is no downtime associated with the procedure. You can resume your normal activities right away. Most people will start to feel better immediately after their first session. Depending on your condition, you may enjoy lasting results after several sessions.
  • How do I prepare for my 40 Minute Infrared Sauna session?
BEFORE YOUR SESSION Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Always drink plenty of water before, during, and after your sauna session! We provide complimentary filtered water to drink during your session and a towel for your use. Remove all make-up and oil to allow your skin to receive the full benefits of the infrared waves. WHAT TO WEAR Lightweight shorts and a t-shirt are ok; swimsuits are better, birthday suits are great too. We recommend bringing clothing that is loose-fitting and comfortable to put back on after your session. We will provide you with towels and a sauna blanket (if you want to really sweat). Our Sauna suite is entirely private. DURING YOUR SESSION You may not sweat much during your first 2-3 sessions. This is normal for most, especially if you haven’t had a recent history of sweating and your body isn’t accustomed to the infrared rays. Take care not to overheat during your first few sessions. Reduce your session time if needed and work up to the full 40 minutes. As your body adjusts to infrared rays, sweating can increase dramatically, and body temp regulation happens more readily. During your session, stretching your arms, legs, and back area create more body flexibility. Massage congested and “knotty” muscles to help alleviate troubled areas. AFTER YOUR SESSION When you finish your sauna session, it is important to relax and cool down while your body continues to perspire. Tip: This is a great time to head into a 60 Minute Custom Massage. Your muscles are warm and will allow a relaxing cool-down period. Let your body do the work to return itself to its normal temperature. Place your used towels in the Towel Drop in the main room.
  • How do I prepare for my LightStim LED Light Therapy session?
BEFORE YOUR SESSION Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Always drink plenty of water before and after your light therapy session! Remove all make-up and lotion from the areas being treated prior to arrival to allow your skin to receive the full benefits of the light waves. WHAT TO WEAR We recommend wearing a shirt/tank that is loose-fitting and comfortable and that exposes as much of the face, neck, and decollate as possible. You can also remove your shirt and place a towel (provided) over your chest. DURING YOUR SESSION You will lie down in a comfortable, slightly inclined position, place the provided eye protectors over your eyes, and then relax as the pulsing lights go to work! The panel will turn off after your 30-minute session is over. TIP: Book a Custom Massage or Compression session at the same time and enjoy the added services while you are reaping the benefits of the LightStim LED Light therapy session – heaven! AFTER YOUR SESSION When your LightStim LED Light Therapy session is complete the panel will turn off and you are all set to go about your day- with a little bit of extra glow!
  • How Do I Prepare For My 30, 60, or 90 Minute Massage Service?
Stay Hydrated Being well hydrated before your massage is essential for eliminating cellular waste released into the body’s circulation during treatment. Drinking water or herbal teas are excellent methods for staying hydrated. Avoid regular tea, coffee, alcohol, or any other stimulants. Eat Lightly Although it will not bother your therapist, it can be awkward if your stomach is noisy due to digestion. It’s preferable to eat at least one hour in advance of your massage or if you’re afraid you’ll get hungry, eat fruit or other food that is easy to digest. Dress Comfortably Since an oil massage is applied to the skin, you might think the clothes you wear aren’t important. However, wearing comfortable clothes will not only put you in a relaxed state before your massage but will also keep you relaxed afterward. Shoes are no exception to this rule. Avoid high heels as they may cause your leg muscles to contract unnecessarily. Arrive in Advance Arriving 10 to 15 minutes before your massage will allow you to complete a health questionnaire without impinging on your massage. You’ll also be able to take a moment to go to the restroom or have a glass of water if need be. If you arrive at the last minute, short of breath, with your heart beating wildly, you’ll have a more challenging time relaxing during your massage. Communicate your Needs Once you are settled in for your treatment, your therapist will review your health questionnaire and ask further questions if necessary. This is the moment to tell your therapist everything: your preferences, needs, expectations, etc. Please let your therapist know if you want them to pay special attention to one part of your body or to avoid a specific area. Let them know how much pressure you enjoy. Let them know what you don’t want. The more you communicate your needs, the better your therapist will be able to respond to them. This is also the perfect time to let your therapist know if you want to add on any additional treatments like CBD or Hot Stones. Relax during the massage During your treatment, concentrate on your breathing and take long, deep breaths. This will help to reduce stress and chase away negative thoughts. Almost no effort is needed from you. Your therapist will know how to lift your arm or your head; your help is not required! Even when the massage is underway, let your therapist know your preferences or if you feel uncomfortable. You’ll get the maximum benefits from your massage by leaving nothing to chance. Too hot, too cold; pressure; bright or low lighting; loud or soft music; with or without essential oils… It’s your massage – you decide. Enjoy your massage!
  • What if I need to put my membership on hold?

  • I am a 60 Minute Massage Member and would like to add time to my session. What do I do?
No problem. If every once in a while, you want to add more time to your membership service, we have two options to help you do that. 1. You can add 30 minutes to your service for an additional $50. When booking online, book your 60 Minute Massage Session at the time and date that works best for you. Select the 30 Minute Member add-on to reserve the full 90-Minutes. Our front desk staff will take care of everything from there. When checking out, we can use your membership benefit, then charge the card on file for the additional $50 for the 30 minute add on. 2. Option two, you can keep your benefit in the bank and pay the low member rates for the extended service. You can come as often as you would like with your monthly membership and pay the members only special rates. If you have a benefit available, it will remain in your account. Here are our members only rates: 30 Minutes/$50 60 Minutes/$80 90 Minutes/$130 If you would like help scheduling, simply give us a call at 804-559-7990 and one of our amazing front desk team will be happy to assist you.
  • Can I split my 60-minute massage into two 30-minute massages, or my 90-minute massage into three 30-minute massages?
A: We appreciate your interest in maximizing the flexibility of our massage membership plan. However, due to the structure of our services and operational limitations, we are unable to accommodate requests to split individual massage credits into shorter sessions. Additionally, our Point of Sale (POS) system is designed to track each massage service as a whole unit and doesn't allow for credit transfers between sessions. So, there is no way to split the massage units in our system. We understand that this might be an inconvenience to some of our members, and we apologize for any confusion. We continuously strive to provide the best possible experience while maintaining a smooth operation and ensuring that our therapists can provide the highest quality service. Your understanding is much appreciated, and we thank you for your continued support.

Research

01

Urinary Incontinence

Conclusions: This study demonstrated that HIFEM technology is able to safely and effectively treat a wide range of patients suffering from urinary incontinence. After six treatments, an improvement in ICIQ-SF score and reduction in absorbent pads usage was observed. Based on subjective evaluation, these changes positively influenced quality of life.

02

Sexual Dysfunction

Conclusion: Our initial experience shows that HIFEM technology is a promising method in addressing women’s decreased sexual satisfaction through the strengthening of PFM.

03

Urinary Incontinence

Subjects benefited from a significantly decreased severity of MUI symptoms and a reduced usage of sanitary pads, which positively influenced their quality of life. Based on the subjective evaluation, patients also reported additional effects of the therapy, such as better control of urination.

04

Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

This study documented that the HIFEM procedure was significantly more effective than electrical stimulation in treatment of PFD in postpartum women. Both the objective and subjective evaluation indicates more profound effects of magnetic stimulation.

05

Effects on Pelvic Floor

The assessed HIES method seems effective for SUI and MUI patients in the short term and shows an advantage over the sham intervention in the assessment of PFM contractions. The use of this intervention significantly increases the functional bioelectrical activity of PFMs.
